My teaching practice bridges the traditional gaps between dance and music, offering a non-hierarchical approach to sound, noise, and motion. As a researcher-practitioner with a Master of Arts and Master of Education, I translate rigorous academic findings into transformative somatic experiences.
How I Teach:
Holistic Integration: I draw from contemporary and jazz music, Dalcroze Eurhythmics, and Alexander Technique to enable deep artistic learning.
Research-Led Practice: My workshops are direct applications of my research on the human form, providing a structured yet playful environment for exploration.
Narrative Exploration: I offer private and group sessions that integrate voice, body, and technology to uncover meaning through somatic storytelling.
Typical Workshop Structure:
To ensure a cohesive and productive environment, sessions typically follow a four-stage progression:
Warm-up: Preparing the body and mind for somatic awareness.
Concept Exploration: Investigating diverse interdisciplinary themes through movement and sound.
Collaborative Creation: Group work focused on experimental co-creation.
Solo Performance: Space for individual expression and sharing research-informed results.
My past professional teaching experience includes Rhythm Music Singing Teacher at the Riga Teacher Training Academy, training future voice teachers and performers, and Voice Teacher and Vocal Ensemble Educator at Ventspils College of Music in Latvia.
Collaborative Workshops
These special sessions are co-created with experts from diverse artistic fields to offer unique perspectives on interdisciplinary practice.
Out of Self | Co-facilitated with Kathrin Zurschmitten
A research-driven workshop focusing on the engagement with autonomous entities through performance and somatic inquiry. Participants explore self-images and inner limits, moving beyond the individual to find new forms of expression.
Creating Music Through Movement | Co-facilitated with Noel Schmidlin
In partnership with composer and sound artist Noel Schmidlin, this workshop investigates the inherent music in bodily motion. We explore the border between music and "non-music," using gestures and movement as primary tools for sound composition and live performance.
