“Walking Over My Selves” is a solo contemporary performance that treats the human body as a musical instrument exploring the friction of self-induced inner struggle.
Through tactile pressure, gravity, and raw contact with the architecture, Ilmārs Šterns transforms vocalization directly from his physical form. By treating the body as foreign to itself, the physical self multiplies – causing individual parts to collide with one another, glitch, and fracture.
Trapped in a relentless cycle of physical and mental struggle, the performer confronts his own limits. Can one ever truly escape a loop they trapped themselves in?
